Apparently, there’s a man out there with my name who designs and manufactures Autonomous Underwater Vehicles, . . . which is weird, since I once fancied myself a budding marine biologist. (Ah, middle school.)

I’m gonna be a doctor

I’m happy to report that I’ve just accepted an offer for admission to the PhD program at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. This is exciting, since my goals from the start were to (a) get into the best program possible and (b) stay relatively close to family here in the Atlanta area, if at all possible.

I also defended my thesis a few days ago, which is nice to finally have behind me.

Not that anyone’s actually reading this blog . . . but to the few of you who happen to end up here (somehow), I hope to be posting somewhat regularly soon. The past couple weeks (this one especially) have proven to be even busier than I’d anticipated (dealing with students, doctors appointments, various short-term travels, defending a thesis, working on a presentation, etc.). So posting anything more than what I’m posting right now will have to wait until next week at the very earliest.
